Dr Simon Smith
After acheiveing a BSc(hons) in pure and aplied physics with electronics (Notingham, UK) I started work for the UK defence industry with the Defence Science and Technology Laboratories (Dstl). I have approximately twenty-five years of experience in the modeling and analysis of advanced guided weapon systems, ballistic missile and ballistic missile defence.
Around 2002 I completed a Master's degree in Advanced Systems Engineering (Loughborough, UK).
In 2005 I migrated to Australia, where I have worked for Saab Systems on ship combat system modelling and analaysis, and the DST Group on missile defence. There I commenced a workplace-sponsored PhD looking at the modelling and analysis requirements for the new untegrated weapon system-of-systems that are currently being deveoped/postulated (Adelaide, Australia).
Currenlty I have withdrawn from the PhD to return to the UK for family reasons. I intend to resurrect and/or complete the PhD research into the analysis of complexity.
